County Executive Page to Sign Executive Order Regarding Care of Pregnant Inmates


ST. LOUIS COUNTY (October 2, 2019) - On Thursday, St. Louis County Executive Sam Page will sign an executive order changing policies on the treatment and care of pregnant persons in custody at the Buzz Westfall Justice Center.

“The treatment of people in the Department of Justice Services’ custody should reflect our fundamental respect for the dignity and human rights of each person,” County Executive Page said.

The comprehensive order, which will result in a combination of new and revised policies, is designed to ensure that “proper care, support, and treatment are provided,” County Executive Page said.

County Executive Page will make remarks before signing the executive order. He will be available for questions afterward. The County Executive will be joined at the ceremony by those who helped advise him on these policy changes. Copies of the executive order will be available.
